The Messenger 2009

 Messenger is the story of Will Montgomery (Ben Foster), a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant who has returned home from Iraq after serving the country in war. He now is appointed to the Army’s Casualty Notification service which delivers the casuality news of the soldiers to their family. Montgomery is partnered with Captain Tony Stone (Woody Harrelson), to give notice to the loved ones of injured or dead soldiers. On one such instance he is attracted towards Olivia Pitterson (Samantha Morton), to whom he has delivered news of her husband’s death.He struggles with an ethical dilemma whether to involve with a widow of a fallen officer.It is the directorial debut of Oren Moverman, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Alessandro Camon.The Messenger won Silver Bear '09 - Best Screenplay and Berlinale Peace Film Award 2009 ,also it got the first prize in the 2009 Deauville American Film Festival.
